He got all excited when we spotted this at Raffles City carpark last Sat. It was just next to our lot. So he was happily snapping away with my camera. We even got to keep reminding him to watch out for cars passing by.

Kayla finally hit the 10kg mark at 19 months. Its like a "big" accomplishment to me as she 's been ard 9kg plus for the longest time. The increase in milk intake from the bottle must be the main reason. Yes, she is finally taking to the bottle after syringe feeding her for like 2-3 months. Our life is made much easier with the transition to bottle.

My little princess will be starting childcare in another 2 months time. Hope she will adapt well to school.

This little boy had 3 mini celebrations this year. The 1st was 2 days before his actual day at his grandparents house.

Kayden is totally off diaper at nite

Since 2 months back, he has consistently woke up with dry diaper. So 3 weeks ago, I decided to just let him sleep without his diaper but there was 1 incident so far, probably becos he was too deep alseep to wake up and pee. Well done boy! I'm now able to save so much on diaper between the 2 kids.

Tot I should document this down for record purposes. I'm so proud to announce that at 14 months old, my little gal is fully toilet trained.

If not for the fact that I needed more rest in the nite, I can also trained her to pee in the potty but this arrangement was very disruptive for our sleep cos each time she wakes up for milk, I got to sit her on the potty and believe me a not, I got to wake up at least 4-5 times a nite to feed her. Since the plan was to cut off her nite feeding, we can't wake her up at nite if not she will demand to be fed, so we kind of "forced" her pee in the diaper at nite. We can saved a bit on the diaper now since we only have to use 1 pc a day.

We also succeeded in stopping the nite feedings. Now each of us can rest better at nite. :)

Ive succeeded in not latching Kayla to sleep at nite. She will be able to doze off after some patting and rolling ard. But I'll still have to work harder on the middle of the nite feeds. I think in order to succeed on that part, I've to make sure that she is eating enough in the day.

Feeding Agony

After mentioning in my previous post that I'm quite happy cos Kayla is slowly taking to the bottle, I'm back to square one once more after her sick episode. Ppl have been commenting that she is so small size etc, even the GP said so.

I decided to try out a different method to get her to take more milk. I took out the biggest syringe I've at home and managed to get her to finish her 80ml of milk in less than 10 mins. She can't take all at once but if I gave her 1 to 2 syringe a time and let her roam ard before giving her more, she will be fine. Hopefully this method will continue to work and she will put on more flesh. I'm getting a bit worried cos she has not put on any weight since 2-3 months ago as she is not eating and drinking well. Food is never her priority. All she want is to latch on me when I'm back from work. But this milk machine is not producing as much as before and even then, breastmilk alone is not providing enough nutrients for her.

Sick Record

These few weeks had to be the worst for us cos the 2 kids were taking turn to fall sick. Kayden started with high fever 3 weeks ago and missed school for a week. After he was well, Kayla had the same symptom as him. She also took 1 week to recover. Just when we thought all was well again, Kayden was complaining of tummy ache on Sun. He started having low grade fever and was suspected of stomach flu. Hopefully he will recover soon this time round. He said he missed school and his friends will miss him too.

My Independent Girl

At 14 months, Kayla wants to do almost everything herself. She wants to eat her own meal, brush her own teeth and even go diaperless.

I took her off her diaper last weekend when she was running a high fever cos her urine was really hot and it makes her uncomfortable. For the whole day, there was only one accident. The next morning when she woke up, I realised that her diaper was dry. Brought her to the toilet and she did it there. The past 3 nites, her diaper was dry again. But I make it a point to put her on the potty when she wakes up for milk at nite cos it's not good if she holds for too long.

Update as at 7 Jun:
She is doing well on her toilet training. When u ask if she needs to pee, she will nod her head if she needs to. Well done baby!
I'm also quite happy that she is slowly taking to drinking from the bottle. Not much, but its enough to make me happy. Hope things will get better and I can quit my job as a moo moo cow very soon.

So we got him this billard set and a table soccer set. He already had a golf set at home. Next on his list are the hockey set and tennis.
I must say he has a flair in ball games. He can play them rather well with some guidance.

Since our area was walkover, we proceed to the beach for some fun on Sat hoping that it will be less crowded. We got a nice sheltered spot. While the kids were having fun, the adults were chatting away.

Shower Training

Started training Kayden to bathe himself last week and I must say he is doing a great job with a bit of help from me cos he still can't reach the shower head. I'm now able to bathe both kids together since he can do 90% of the stuff himself. Good Job!

Supplements and Appetite Booster

Starting Kayla on this supplements cos her feeding pattern is quite bad. She is not taking milk in the day and I was told breastmilk alone is not providing her with enough calcium. Maybe that explains why she is so slow in teething. At almost 14 months, she is only growing her 5th tooth.

Mealtime is a real pain cos she will only take a few mouthful and that's it. She loves to snack and absolutely loves fruits of all kind. She will drop whatever she is eating or doing when she sees fruits being served. Hopefully the appetite booster will help in increasing her food intake and she will put on more flesh.

We went for a walk to the garden again since its so near our house.
Meimei is enjoying herself now that she can walk on her own. But she still insist that I must hold her hand.

Think she needs more confident to walk on her own when outside but she has no problem moving ard on her own at home.

Korkor only wants to play with the sand. See, he is half change for water play after that.

Wanted meimei to try out the sand but she refussed and started crying when I removed her shoes.

She want to be lifted up, away from the sand. She will only put her feet down with shoes on.

Our effort has paid off! After 4 trips in the car, we have finally succeeded in putting Kayla in w/o any struggles or cries. She has been ok for short trips but the longer ones were terrible...so most of the time, I'll take her out to stop her from crying( ok, I know its a big mistake on my part). But whenever she is out from the carseat, she starts all her funny business. I had enough of all her wriggling and struggling that I tell myself...No more nonsense from her since she is old enough to understand now. We started off with her crying till she almost vomited...and slowly, the cries get shorter and shorter till no more...By the fourth time we put her in, she just sat on it quietly. She knows its a no win situation for her cos Mummy is not budging

Kayla's growth journey for the last 1 year

BB Kayla's first moment fresh from Mummy's womb.

She is looking all alert at 6 days old

At 1 month old, she has increased 1.5 kg from birth. Drinking very well.

By 2 months old, she is such a darling. Giving Mummy ample rest at nite. If sleeping for 5-6 hours straight is consider as sleeping thru..I've done it.

3 months old. She loves FM after her first try when Mummy was sick and not able to feed her. Mummy was so happy thinking that she will not have any problem switching her in future but she was wrong. I hate bottles.

4 months old, bad habits are forming. She used to be able to sleep for long stretch before waking up for milk but not anymore. Have been waking up so often for latching. Is it becos she missed Mummy too much now that she has gone back to work?

5 months old. I'm still doing pretty much what a baby shd be doing. Drink and sleep. But Grandma is complaining about how difficult it is to feed me. I simply dun like bottles. I only want milk direct from Mummy. So I just drink enough in the day and wait for Mummy to be back. She is my Moo Moo cow..hehe
Any idea where the unfinished milk goes to?? I get milk bath everyday...yes EVERYDAY for like almost 8 months.

6 months old, I'm learning how to crawl. I can move freely now... :)

7 months old, Mummy said I must look and behave more like what a gal shd be, looking sweet in dresses and hairclips.

8 months old. Hey.. dun I look prettier now?? Daddy always said I'm so cute! Well..I've yet to show my character

9 months old, I'm slowly reaching more milestones. Next to come will be cruising independently.

10 months old...she is slowly showing her true character. Despite her being a gal, her behaviour does not say it at all. She is really one active fella and very fierce too.

11 months old...she is getting more and more vain..oh well, which gal doesn't!! hehe. She has also started taking unassisted baby steps.

12 months old. She can walk pretty well and far now. Abeit for some wibbly whobbly moments and falls and bumps at time. Mummy still have the same complaining as 7 months ago..."When is she going to take to bottles". She needs some sanity back cos I'm still waking up so often for latching at nite. She counts herself lucky if I only wakes up like 3 times a nite.

Ever since she started taking her first few baby steps, she is looking at every possible chance to break free from us...finally she can roam ard freely.
Brought the kids to the Jacobs Ballas Garden again cos Kayden likes it there...he was actually there with Daddy the day before and saw some kids playing with water and sand using their bucket and spade and was upset that he did not bring his along...so tada...here we are today

I'm really very thankful for having such a loving and giving boy. He had been such a nice big brother to Kayla fom day 1. I had expected him to get jealous and fight for attention with his little sister, but, NO, he did not. In fact, when I am busy with Kayla and had no time for him, he will usually wait till I'm done with my stuff or look for someone else. Some days, I do feel very sorry that I've neglected him especially when he tells me in the morning that I did not keep him company the nite before.

This emotional boy is very sensitive as well. Once he told me :" Mummy, I love you. I love Daddy but Daddy dun love me, I love Meimei but meimei also dun love me". I got to assure him that we all love him very much and after that he was happy. He is usually reasonable but at times, has his moments too. But overall, you are still such a darling, Son.

Kayla is sick

Kayla is down with Roseola Fever. She was running a temp since Wed nite. Now that her fever is more contained, she is breaking out with very bad rashes and not much of an appetite. Get well soon baby.

Eventful Weekend

This weekend was spent doing outdoor activities cos we realised that most of the time, we only bring the kids to shopping malls and more shopping malls. So its time to get some sun..

Sat: After breakfast at Queensway Mac, we adjourned to the Alexandra Firestation for a visit. All fire station in S'pore are open for visiting every Sat from 9.30am to 11am. Kayden all excited about the visit...
and so looking forward to the "excursion" till he saw the big engines and started to get frighten

Did not want to sit in the fire engine even thou we told him it ok to try.

Daddy was the one having more fun hopping up and down the engines and even trying out the sprays

He finally agreed to pose a pic with the red rhino after much persuasion

and also a pic with the Fire Engine.

Milestone of Kayla at 10 months old

At 10 months old, Kayla is able to:

Support herself pretty well with little help
Can stand on her own for a few seconds w/o support
Listens to simple instructions
Generous with her kisses to selected people
Able to use her pincer grasp to pick up small objects

She is still as cheerful as before and warms up easily with strangers. A totally different character with her kor kor. She loves company and will want a part in whatever others are doing.

She is a very assertive girl and will do all she can to get what she wants. Although she's the youngest, she is actually a "big bully" to her korkor. She likes to join in the fun whenever the older 2 are playing.

Taiwan Trip ( 27 Nov to 5 Dec 10)

We are going away for holiday!!! Waiting patiently at the Airport for our flight to Taipei on a Sat morning. All ready for our trip to Danshui
Look at the busy street..We had lots and lots of junk food there. Basically we just eat for the whole day.

Check out this super high ice cream. It taste very different from ours as there's no milk in it..

The kids had some bubble fun after the adults are done with their shopping..They are eating again while we play.

We made a side trip out of Taipei..Here we are on our big move to Taichung by the bullet train.

The trip was so comfy cos we bought their business class tickets.

See, we even get drinks and tibits..Oh yes, their honey cake is really good.

We even packed additional food for the kids. Look at how this boy is enjoying his you tiao with soybean milk.

After 45 mins of train ride and 1.5 hour of bus ride, we arrived at this beautiful castle stay at Naitou. Its right at the top of a mountain. Nice environment and really cold weather.

Our other resort stay in Miaoli.

We celebrated Ah Ma's 60th birthday there. Oh, one thing to mention, the cake in Taiwan is really pretty and their service is so good. All cake come with nice candle, paper plates and fork.

We went strawberry picking after our day trip out to Miaoli city. This is what the kids enjoyed most. Oh, we went Orange picking as well.

Check out how nice the strawberries are. Fresh from the plant. U choose what u want, cut it off and weight it at the end of the day.

They taste really yummy and sweet...Too bad we can't bring it back to S'pore cos they dun last. Best to consume within the day..

so while the kids are hard at work deciding which is the biggest and reddest, we also work hard to do the QC check before they snapped it off the plant.

Every strawberry look just so nice but if you go round checking it out, u will find treasure...big juicy one wanting for you...haha...so be patient kids.

Waking up fresh and nice. Ready for our move back to Taipei

Kids are the best cos they just have fun and eat and be merry. We decided that we have enough moving for this trip and settled for a charterd bus to bring us back to Taipei city.

We visited somemore places in Miaoli on our way to Taipei. Kayla was sleeping for most of the journey...good gal.

Back at Ximending

Enjoying their favourite beef noodle at this beef noodle fast food joint...Its really yummy. Big juicy chunck of beef. Nice!

We went for their Floral Exhibition as well

The kids were getting restless so we had to head back while the rest stayed behind.

One thing not to miss is going to Taipei 101. We had a nice meal of Tapanyaki before going up.

One headache after another

My lil princess is so good at making me worried. When she was very young, like 3 months or so, she was not drinking well(bottle rejection), and that got us panic cos she was only surviving on like 200-300ml of milk in the day. That lasted for like 2 months.

We had to start her early(ard 5 months) on semi solid and was kind of relieved when she took to it well. We moved on to porridge later on and she did not like it. But by that, she was taking well to her milk so I wasn't too concerned.

When we finally managed to prepare the "kind" of porridge that she was willing to take, she starts to reject her bottle once again. These days, she goes without milk in the day. She would only take 3 solid meals and wait for me to be home then latch on and is making up for her milk intake at night. She will wake up every 2 hours for latching on...sometimes even shorter intervals. I wanted to wean her off night feed but couldn't do so now cos if not she will not be having enough milk intake. Her PD said that at this age, she shd be drinking 1L a day...but she is way below that "target".

I'm praying hard that she will start taking bottles again and eat her porridge at the same time.

Oh one thing to mention, her PD said that she is teething. Perhaps that's the reason when she is refussing the bottle.

At 8 months old, Kayla has mastered the art of crawling. She can moved ard freely now. One step nearer to independence. This little gal is back to her "fairy" mode again. She is refusing her milk and not too keen on her solid in the day. BUT keeps waking up for night feed.

How do I get her to like her porridge??

Kayla is not very receptive towards her porridge despite Mummy putting in so much effort to cook for her. So far, her highest record is to finish 1/2 a small bowl of porridge and it only happen once. Most of the time, she will reject after 2-3 mouthful. She rather eat her baby rice cereal.Luckily there's korkor and jiejie who appreciate the porridge more than her, so that gives Mummy some motivation to continue cooking.

One thing to mention, she hates fish! Whenever u try to add fish, even a tiny whiny bits, she will not eat. Such a fussy eater I have. At 8 months old, she is only taking 1 semi solid, Mummy is feeling the pressure of producing more milk for her since she is not taking solid well....Looks like I'll have to supplement her day feed with some FM soon despite yielding 750ml a day. She can take about 180ml each feed x 5 feeds. I'm short of another 150ml!

Had no intention of paying extra to get back all the photos in high reso cos I do not want to waste $$. But after collecting the chosen copies from the studio, I gave in and parted with $80 to get back everything in high reso. Told myself that I will only do this once a year for the kids and since I've alr paid so much for the package, I shall just get everything back. So I'm very happy now cos I can print out all the photos that I like and not restricted to just 8, which was part of the package.

Introduce Kayla to the straw today and she took to it so well. After less that 5 tries, she was able to take in water from it. Great job baby. Apart from using the Magmag cup as a water bottle, she also uses the straw as a teether and enjoying chewing on it. Offer her the Bellamy tooth peg but she did not like it at all. Wasted my money!

Brought Kayla and my niece out for lunch with my sisters since its Children's Day and we are all at home. Kayden couldn't join us as his childcare is not close so I sent him to school. I hardly get to spend time with Kayla alone so she was happy as well cos she got Mummy all to herself.

Lil princess is able to call mama at 6.5 months old. She will go mama mama when she wants me to carry her. I'm her favourite person as of now. So needless to say, I'm also very happy cos all these 6.5 months of effort has paid off. :)

Another thing to mention is that she is able to sit well on her own now.

Lil princess is exactly 6 months old today. I'm guilty for not recording her milestones unlike Kayden's time whereby I make a conscious effort to update it once a month. Will have to remind myself to do it for her on a monthly basis.

Here are her developmental milestones at 6 months old:

Able to flip well
Can stand well with support
Able to sit unsupported for a few seconds
Can eat well (started her on semi solid when she was 5 months old)
Can recognise people (Super stickly to Mummy these days)
Knows how to "fight" for attention (she will protest if she see Mummy carrying korkor and not her)
Loves to eat but not keen on her milk (will scream if food is taken away from her when she is eating.)
Get all excited when she sees people that she likes
Very agile with her legs. (Can use her legs to grab things and transfer to her hands)
Love to play with hair.
Able to hold own bottle

Kayla is finally able to flip at close to 5 months old. Mummy is of course so proud of her. She is such a smilely baby who loved to have company. Lil princess is now able to recognise people. She will give you a broad smile whenever u call out her name.Lil gal is getting more vocal these days...she likes people to tok to her and will never fail to response back in her baby lingo. Her favourites these days are to suck her fingers and toes.

I try to document down the dates that my 2 lil precious achieve their first. Must admit that I wasn't as detail in tracking Kayla's milestone as compare to Kayden. Perhaps having 2 kids really makes you more forgetful?? So I better pen it down before it slips my mind again.

Kayla chuckle for the first time today(5 Jun 10, 7pm). Percise rite?? Might as well since I can remember...which is so rare. I was carrying her in my sling, toking to her while walking to the carpark. Perhaps I've said something that really amused her cos she was chuckling away while we "tok" to each other...Kayla in her baby lingo as usual... She is so responsive now and really enjoy toking to ppl.

We decided to bring the kiddos to T3 for a walk and have lunch there since we have not really brought meimei out for any outing. Airport sounds good cos got plenty of space for Kayden to run around and cooling enough for meimei to feel comfortable sleeping since the weather is quite erratic these days. Settled down at "Xin Wang" since Kayden can see the aeroplanes from the Cafe while having his lunch...He wanted to eat his spaghetti so he shared a baked spaghetti with Chicken with Mummy. Meimei was a good girl as she was sleeping in the sling through out and Mummy was able to have her meal in peace.

Lil princess is able to recognise her own name now. Whenever u call out her name, she will smile back to you 7 out of 10 times. She is such a "chatty" girl who likes ppl to tok to her and will response back in her baby lingo. Our lil darling is also a fierce gal. She will cry or scream if her needs are not met so it takes quite a bit of effort to figure out what she wants each time. Hope this lil one here will be more "gentle" and less fierce as she grows.

Hand Foot Mouth Disease

Kayden developed fever on Sunday nite and it suddenly occur to us that he might have caught the HFMD virus from school since one of his classmates got it. There were blisters on his hands and legs the following day and Dr Saw confirmed that its HFMD.

We tried our best effort to keep him away from his mei mei as she is only 5 weeks old and cannot afford to fall sick. However, my niece caught the virus from him and is also down with it the following week.

We gave him lots of cold stuff during that period as that was the only stuff he could stomach. The end result was he was coughing very badly after he recovered and had to stayed at home for another week to recover from his cough.

This is the second time I'm at the Indoor Stadium. We are catching "Disney on Ice", complementary from Mummy. She couldn't join us as she was doing her confinement. Anyway, after their first experience with "Thomas Circle", they have kind of agreed that one person to accompany me is enough since the tickets are not cheap...So today Daddy will have the honour of bringing me and Megan jiejie there. Not much pics taken cos its not easy for Daddy to handle 2 kids on his own...

Kayden came to us yesterday evening and said he had finished peeing. We thought he had wet his pants, but no, it was dry. So Daddy went with him into the room to check out the floor. Nothing there. Daddy ask if he did it in the loo and he brought him there to show Daddy what he had done. He actually went to the loo w/o us knowing and was able to remove his pants and pee into the toilet bowl, all by himself and even washed his own hands. Well done! Althought it was a little messy cos he wasn't tall enough to reach the bowl. Nevertheless, we were actually very impressed by his independence.
